How to Update Your Cinesamples Libraries
When you make a purchase from Cinesamples and download your library for the first time, you are automatically installing the latest version of that library. There is no need to apply updates after installing a library fresh, whether using Native Access or Continuata Connect.
When we release updates for a library, there may be new instrument files, new sample content, or other data that can be added to an existing library folder on your system. If the update can be applied through Native Access, it will show in the Available Updates tab and automatically install whatever is new to the same directory as the current library.
Certain updates require a full reinstallation, if there is all-new sample content, or if a library was originally released as a non-encoded product and was then upgraded with Kontakt Player/NKS encoding. In general, we offer significant updates to sample content, UI, performability, and other improvements for free when a library was released originally with Native Instruments encoding.
In the case of re-encoded libraries, there is an upgrade fee to purchase a serial code for activation in Native Access. Sending products to Native Instruments to make them available on Native Access involves additional development cost for these new versions, so there is a nominal fee for such upgrades.
If you purchased a library before the release of the new encoded upgrade, check your email for an upgrade coupon allowing you to purchase the serial code for the library for the upgrade price. If you are unable to find the coupon, please get in touch with our Support Team and we will be happy to get you set up with the appropriate upgrade!
As of March 2022, the libraries that have undergone this re-encoding treatment are:
- CineWinds CORE (December 2015)
- CineWinds PRO (December 2015)
- CinePerc CORE/PRO/EPIC/AUX (March 2016)
- Piano In Blue (October 2021)
- Orchestral Chords (December 2021, formerly CineOrch)
- Drums Of War 1 (December 2021)
- Drums Of War 2 (December 2021)
- Randy's Celeste (February 2022)
- Viola Da Gamba (February 2022)
- Dulcimer And Zither (February 2022)
- Deep Percussion Beds (March 2022)
- Deep Percussion Beds 2 (March 2022)
See more information about the individual upgrades for these products below:
For CineWinds CORE and CineWinds PRO, the upgraded version requires a serial code and reinstallation of the sample content. If you owned CineWinds CORE or PRO prior to December 2015, you should have received a coupon code to allow you to purchase the upgrade, but if you didn't receive this coupon please contact our Support Team and we will send you a custom link for the upgrade.
In the case of CinePerc, the four CinePerc CORE/PRO/EPIC/AUX libraries have now been combined into one giant CinePerc library with 100GB of content and a new consistent mapping format, making it easy to quickly layer percussion ensemble parts.
The upgrade price for CinePerc depends on the number of original libraries owned prior to the re-encoding. Get in touch with our Support Team and we will get you set up with your upgrade based on which CinePerc libraries you had in your collection prior to March of 2016.
Piano In Blue now works with the free Kontakt Player 6.6.1+ and Komplete Kontrol, as of October 2021. This library is now also available for installation via Native Access. There is also a new, meticulously-edited sample set for the Direct samples. This library fully replaces the old version, so if you had a Legacy version of Piano In Blue, be sure to make a backup for your archives before installing the new version. Old projects using Piano In Blue will need to have the new version loaded in to replace the instrument in your session, as Kontakt recognizes it as a brand new NKI file.
Note: In Native Access, the latest Piano In Blue update appears as version 1.0.0 since this is the first time the library has been available on Native Access. The User Area displays v3.0 which is the latest NKS compatible update, while the previous non-encoded version was v2.3.
For Tina Guo Acoustic Cello Legato, customers who owned the library before April 2020 will see the Tina Guo Legato (Legacy) product in their User Area on our website. This Legacy version uses the old serial code format, and does not have NKS encoding. It does have the Infinite Bow functionality available if you reinstall the library via Continuata Connect. You should have received a download code for this update in your email in April of 2020, but if you are unable to locate this code, open a ticket and we will be happy to assist you.
Orchestral Chords, formerly CineOrch, is now encoded for the free Kontakt Player 6.6.1+ and Komplete Kontrol. It has a new interface and is available for installation through Native Access.
Drums Of War 1 and Drums Of War 2 have both been re-encoded for the free Kontakt Player 6.7.1+ and Komplete Kontrol. They also have new interfaces and improved new FX in the Kontakt 6 engine. They are available for direct installation through Native Access.
Dulcimer And Zither has now been upgraded to work with the free Kontakt Player 6.6.1+.
Randy's Celeste has now been upgraded to work with the free Kontakt Player 6.6.1+.
Viola Da Gamba has now been upgraded to work with the free Kontakt Player 6.6.1+.
Deep Percussion Beds and Deep Percussion Beds 2 have now been upgraded to work with the free Kontakt Player 6.7.1+.
If you're not sure what version you're running, the first place to check is the GUI for the instrument itself. In all our latest versions, we indicated the version number directly on the patch. Some libraries that have not been updated since their release will not have this, so if you are still unsure get in touch with us and we'll help you figure it out.
